ROLE digital design, marketing

CLIENT Tennessee Technological University

During my internship at the Tennessee Technological University, Office of Communications and Marketing, I designed social media graphics for the admissions office (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook) and tackled any other digital projects that my help was needed with, like presentation templates for social analytics.

I learned a lot about creating new designs within an established brand and style guide, and I got my first taste of what sets digital-focused design apart from print design. I learned to create graphics that presented simpler, more attention-grabbing imagery, that info placing was more important than info dumping, and anything more should depend on links to accomplish. I also really enjoyed developing a design style for social media that utilized cohesive geometric shapes and low opacity colors to divide the digital spaces and make them more dynamic.
